Status: In Progress
Megan is a sweet 20-year-old young lady with a rare genetic disorder.
Her older brother, Austin, has the same diagnosis. It has been a challenge for her parents to manage both Megan and Austin’s physical needs. Megan experienced a significant medical issue in 2019 that resulted in a significant loss in function. She is now dependent on her caregivers to propel her in her manual wheelchair. As with Austin, her parents need modifications to the home to increase accessibility and safety for activities of daily living (ie, bathing, transfers, etc). They also want to be able to access the pool in the backyard but this requires going down narrow stairs with several turns.
Retrofit the 2 bathrooms in the house for Megan and her brother Austin
Widen doorways and install a pocket doors
Install a vertical lift for easier entry into the home
Redesign the stairs and install a stair lift
Install a wall lift that will allow Megan, Austin, and their caregivers to be safe during transfers
